Software Engineer - Infrastructure & DevOps

Based in SoHo, NYC, we're assembling a lean, high-performance team committed to reducing wealth inequality.

- Be a founding member of the Infrastructure & Security team, responsible for the platform reliability, security posture, and compliance readiness that enables Basic Capital to scale with confidence

- Own Basic Capital's ongoing SOC 2 Type II compliance, implementing security controls, documenting processes, and working with auditors to achieve and maintain certification

- Design and implement comprehensive observability systems including logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing across our infrastructure

- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code that enable fast, safe releases

- Optimize system performance, latency, and cost efficiency as we scale to serve more customers and handle increasing transaction volumes

- Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) including networking, security groups, IAM policies, and compliance-related configurations

- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM)

- Proven track record implementing security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar)

- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)

- Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and encryption

- Experience with observability platforms and building monitoring/alerting systems (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch)

- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go) for automation

- Experience with secrets management, key rotation, and encryption at rest/in transit

- Familiarity with penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security incident response

- Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity

- Experience with Temporal for asynchronous workflow orchestration

- Enjoys learning new technologies and selecting the right tool for each job

- Adaptable and open to contributing across the tech stack as the team evolves
