Full job description

What You'll Do As a Member of the Technical Staff at Finch, you're building the system our team uses every day to run intake, medical records, police reports, lien management, and demands for personal injury firms across the country. Your code directly determines how many cases our paralegals can handle, and by extension, our ability to help more cases seen.

This is a full-stack role at a company where the product is evolving quickly and engineers have real ownership - expect the scope to grow as we do. - Own major features end-to-end, from architecture decisions through production release. - Build reliable, performant systems across our core workflows using Python/Django, React, and AWS. - Ship AI-powered functionality that turns legal complexity into clear, usable software for law firms. - Collaborate directly with product, ops, and design to define what gets built and why. - Shape our culture of our technical team, standards, and practices while we're still small enough for it to matter.

Who We Have in Mind This role is for technical team members who want ownership over outcomes, not just tickets. Here's what that requires. Must-Haves - 3+ years building reliable, secure software in production. - Full-stack experience - comfortable across the frontend and backend. - Proficiency in Python and React, or demonstrably fast at picking up new stacks. - A track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code.

Nice-to-Haves - Experience with Django, AWS, or OpenAI APIs. - Prior work at an early-stage startup where you helped set engineering standards. - Familiarity with legal tech, document processing, or data-heavy workflows. This Role Might Not Be For You If - You do your best work with a well-defined spec and a stable, established codebase. - You prefer deep specialization in one layer of the stack over full-stack ownership. - You're looking for a remote-first role - this one is 4 days/week in our NYC office.

Compensation The expected package for this role includes base salary + equity. - Base salary = $180,000 - $280,000.

Benefits - 100% coverage for health, dental, and vision. - 401(k) retirement plan. - In-office snacks, drinks, and daily team lunches and dinners. - Flexible PTO (we trust you to take the time you need). Interview Process - Intro: An initial call to see if there's a mutual fit. - Interview: Technical session with a member of the team. - Onsite: A visit to our NYC office to interview, meet the team, and have lunch.

At Finch Legal, we believe in practicing what we advocate. As a company dedicated to upholding justice and protecting people in the workplace, we are equally committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment within our own walls. We welcome and support individuals from all backgrounds and lived experiences - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status.

We recognize that diversity strengthens our team, enriches our perspectives, and empowers us to better serve our clients and communities. At Finch Legal, inclusion isn't just a value - it's a practice.
