Newell Brands is searching for a highly motivated Product Engineer to play a key role in new product development efforts and implement improvements to existing products.
This position will:
- Support new product development and sustaining engineering activities from concept through production launch, ensuring alignment with defined product, cost, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, sourcing, and supply chain teams to support product development and project execution
- Ensure product compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements and escalate risks as appropriate
Key Responsibilities
- Review product designs, CAD models, and engineering documentation to assess fit, function, and manufacturability
- Develop test plans and support execution of validation and performance testing activities
- Apply quality engineering tools, including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP, during product and process development
- Execute changes in the product using change control process
- Investigate product and process issues, including data collection, root cause analysis, and participation in CAPA activities
- Support customer and consumer complaint investigations and resolution of quality issues
- Analyze product and process data to identify trends and support findings and recommendations
- Participate in tooling reviews, manufacturing trials, and production qualification activities
- Maintain engineering and quality documentation, including specifications, risk assessments, and validation records
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering preferred).
- 4 plus yrs product development experience preferably with plastics.
- Problem Solving, Organizational, Planning and prioritization, multi-tasking skills.
- Basic competency with CAD (Solidworks or Creo) with ability to complete detailed review of 3D models and assessment of 2D drawings.
- Working knowledge of quality methods and systems, including statistics, sampling, auditing, and structured problem‑solving methodologies
- Understanding of plastic molding and extrusion manufacturing process, capabilities and design requirements desired.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and project management skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Competencies with other materials and manufacturing technologies (e.g., metals)
- Experience in consumer product is plus.
- Experience/competency with Electronics is plus.
