Senior Embedded Software Engineer

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be the tip of the spear for embedded software development supporting our next-generation radar seeker products — the component that makes the weapon successful in its mission. You will be responsible for full-stack embedded development, including embedded code running on ARM-based microprocessors + hard processor cores (e.g. Microblaze, Nios) both in bare-metal and OS-based configurations, down to low-level driver software controlling hardware at the bus level, enabling rapid fielding of capability for the warfighter. This will require expertise in embedded Linux, modern C++ and/or Rust, ARM-based architectures, and hands-on comfort with RF/digital test equipment. • Design, develop, and deploy embedded software across the full stack — from application-level code on embedded processor cores down to drivers and low-level mechanisms controlling hardware
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux software for radar seeker systems using modern C++ and/or Rust
• Write device drivers and firmware that interface with hardware over SPI, I2C, UART, and other low-level buses for data transfer and peripheral control
• Perform hardware-software integration, board bring-up, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and RF/digital test equipment
• Spend significant time on-site at Anduril facilities (weeks at a time) supporting integration, field testing, and real-world validation of products
• Collaborate closely with electrical, RF, firmware, and systems engineers to deliver fully functional products
• Troubleshoot complex issues that span the electrical and software boundaries
• Operate autonomously within a small, fast-paced team — driving development from concept through deployment without hand-holding 

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
• Professional experience developing embedded software for production systems
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust
• Demonstrated expertise in embedded Linux development
• Experience with ARM processors and traditional microprocessor architectures
• Experience writing device drivers and low-level software interfacing with hardware peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
• Hands-on competence with digital test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers
• Self-directed working style with ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information

• Experience with radar systems, signal processing, or RF sensing applications
• Background in seeker development, missile/munitions systems, or other tactical defense products
• Experience with RF test equipment such as VNAs, signal analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
• Familiarity with bootloaders, Board Support Packages (BSP), and RTOS environments
• Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204)
• Comfort with typical C++ tooling (CMake, GDB, Valgrind, etc.) and CI/CD workflows
• Experience with Python for test automation and scripting
• Familiarity with reproducible build systems such as Nix/NixOS
• Background working at the hardware-software boundary (board bring-up, integration, field testing)
• Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability embedded domains

US Salary Range

$191,000—$253,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
