KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop overall vehicle configurations from mission and system requirements. - Perform first-order sizing and layout studies to establish feasible vehicle architectures. - Create and maintain detailed CAD models, including vehicle outer mold line (OML), internal packaging, and major assemblies. - Evaluate design trades involving aerodynamic performance, weight, manufacturability, modularity, and subsystem integration. - Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, guidance, manufacturing, and flight-test teams throughout vehicle development. - Produce engineering drawings and support prototype fabrication. - Present technical recommendations and design trade studies to engineering leadership.
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS - Entry Level: BS/MS in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or similar with internship, research, Formula SAE, CubeSat, UAS, or aerospace design experience. - Senior: 5+ years of experience designing aircraft, missiles, or unmanned systems. - Experience performing conceptual vehicle sizing or preliminary aircraft/missile design. - Proficiency with NX, CATIA, Creo, or equivalent CAD software. - Understanding of aircraft or missile geometry, packaging, and multidisciplinary design tradeoffs. - Strong communication and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with conceptual aircraft or missile design methodologies. - High-speed, high-altitude, or tactical UAS development. - Low-observable (LO) design principles. - Class A surfacing or advanced CAD surfacing. - Parametric CAD and model-based design. - Flight-test or prototype development experience.
