Education: Bachelor's degree or related field
The Air Defense team builds robots that find other robots and knock them out of the sky. At a time when air superiority can no longer be taken for granted, the Air Defense Team provides mission critical capabilities to warfighters. From detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat, our family of networked sensors and effectors enables our customers to rapidly close the kill chain against a broad range of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats.
Working across product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success, the Air Defense team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains the Anduril Air Defense Family of Systems (FoS) in challenging operational environments worldwide.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) on the Air Defense team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of mission-critical systems. Your work will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test frameworks for backend systems, real-time data processing, and command & control software.
This role requires advanced technical skills and collaboration to implement test strategies, integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshoot complex issues. Your contributions will directly enhance the readiness and operational superiority of our defense technologies.
- Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for backend systems, APIs, and distributed components.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployments in secure cloud environments.
- Develop and execute test strategies, including functional, integration, performance, and reliability testing.
- Conduct end-to-end testing of complete software stacks in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Troubleshoot system issues using advanced Linux expertise, log analysis, and network debugging.
- Configure and manage test environments, including virtualized and containerized setups.
- Document test results, findings, and resolutions for knowledge sharing and compliance.
- 6+ years of experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer, focusing on backend systems, APIs, and microservices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proficiency in developing test automation frameworks using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go, C#).
- Advanced expertise in Linux, including scripting, system configuration, and log analysis.
- Experience testing complex distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
- Ability to obtain a security clearance (U.S. Citizenship may be required).
- Experience with Robot Framework or other keyword-driven test automation tools.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog).
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, K6).
- Exposure to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) simulation environments.
