We are seeking a Senior Cloud Technology Engineer with extensive experience designing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale, mission‑critical systems for government customers. Ideal candidates will have a background supporting Air Traffic Control (ATC) or other aviation‑related domains where reliability, security, and compliance are essential.

  • Architect, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure for high‑availability government systems.
  • Lead cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy systems to modern cloud platforms.
  • Ensure systems meet stringent government security, regulatory, and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, security, and program teams to deliver resilient and compliant cloud solutions.
  • Develop automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code solutions to support scalable deployments.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues across distributed cloud environments.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Support program reviews, design sessions, and technical documentation for government stakeholders.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering or systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale government systems, preferably within FAA or other ATC-related programs.
  • Expertise with one or more major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of containerization, orchestration, and microservices (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM).
  • Proven ability to design highly available, fault-tolerant cloud architectures.
  • Experience working directly in Air Traffic Control or aviation technology domains.
  • Knowledge of NAS systems, FAA programs, or similar mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with real-time and safety-critical systems.
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards applicable to government systems (FedRAMP, NIST).
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
