Maintenance Mechanic

Position: Maintenance Mechanic/Machinist Location: Hanover, PA Pay Rate: $28.03 - $37.47 (depending on experience) Shift: Night Shift - 7:00PM-7:00AM (rotating schedule) ($0.45 shift differential for night shift)

Sonoco is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Machinist to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. While reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform proactive maintenance tasks, work with machining equipment, and respond quickly and effectively to maintenance concerns to ensure timely shipment of Sonoco products.

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, pneumatic actuators, conveyor networks, and three-phase motors.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections according to our CMMS schedule.

• Maintaining and repairing utility and facility-related equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor

• Diagnose basic electrical and PLC faults using schematic blueprints and digital

• Respond rapidly to emergency production line breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.

• Assisting and training other maintenance personnel with repairs, preventive maintenance, and rebuilds

• Collaborating closely with production and other departments to proactively resolve equipment issues

• Performing all duties in full support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies

• You have experience in an industrial environment or relevant military experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment

• strong mechanical aptitude with systematic troubleshooting abilities

• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, industrial controls, and motor controls (strong plus)

• Comfortable using mechanical lifts and ladders, and with kneeling, bending, and twisting; able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and are willing to work an off-shift position with rotating shifts and overtime, including weekends

• R otating schedule of 12 hour shifts: 3 days on, two days off, two days on, three days off. Work approximately 15 days a month and have a three day weekend every other weekend.
