Electrical Project Engineer - Kiewit Energy District

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the project controls and technical aspects of constructing a project, managing a team of field and office/cost engineers. Field Engineering: - Review drawings and specifications and train the project team on them - Ensure budget quantities and reported progress are correct - Identify all required work plans and work packages and hold field supervision accountable to prepare the plans - Manage project's document control system, including drawing revisions, RFIs, submittals, and as-builts. - Measure project productivity and lead efforts to building work at the lowest possible cost. - Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly cost is accurate - Be a champion of Kiewit's "Nobody Gets Hurt" safety program through participation in jobsite safety reviews, mass safety meetings, and safety trainings - Oversee project's material procurement process, ensuring that major materials and equipment are delivered on time and adhere to project specifications - Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite - Assist in supervision of field operations

Office Engineering: - Train engineers in material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and technical drafting on electrical systems to support field operations - Review submittals and RFIs for technical accuracy and completeness - Negotiate, review, write, and execute agreements and contracts with vendors and subcontractors in a timely manner and to effectively manage project risks - Train others in minor solicitations and the preparation and tracking of purchase orders and subcontracts - Manage project team to deliver precise schedule and narrative updates - Enforce processes for basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and letters - Lead project cost report reviews with jobsite management - Maintain and audit data in the project cost system - Collect documentation, advise project management on the contract, and perform the analysis and data processing needed for change orders and disputes - Champion project adherence to corporate standards - Lead and execute contract administration plan, including communicating, pricing, and negotiating change conditions - Understand and utilize information to drive project team to make informed, data-driven decisions - Execute project training plan for all personnel

- Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering or equivalent experience and education - At least 5 years of experience in the construction field, light rail preferred - Broad understanding of technical electrical systems, including: underground layout and installation, Instrumentation installation - Above ground systems layout and installations, including but not limited to conduit installations within hazardous locations, cable tray systems, cable pulling in conduit and tray - Must have working knowledge of and be able to direct the operations of at least these management systems: CPM scheduling (Primavera P6), unit man-hour performance, budget management, document control, change management, and subcontracts - Experience with leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning and organization
