PJT Partners seeks to hire a motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join the finance department. This role is essential to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s financial books and records, with primary ownership of the monthly close process and a broad range of corporate accounting functions across all North America entities.
The successful candidate will work within a structured close calendar environment, collaborating closely with various members of the corporate team, business unit COOs, and functional groups including Tax, FP&A, HR, Legal, and Compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain deep, hands-on experience within a fast-paced, public company finance function.
- Execute and perform monthly close process cross all North America entities, adhering to the firm’s structured close calendar and maintain accurate financial information in the Workday accounting system;
- Perform daily accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger transactions spanning all corporate accounting areas including cash controls, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, accruals, other assets and liabilities, and intercompany;
- Prepare month-over-month variance analysis on key income statement and balance sheet movements, flagging anomalies and communicating findings to senior finance leadership;
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and consolidation checks across multiple legal entities;
- Assist with 10-Q/10-K reporting workpapers including fixed asset schedules, AP & accrued expense schedules, other asset schedules, goodwill & intangibles analysis, and lease schedules.
- Follow key accounting policies and procedures in compliance with US GAAP and regulatory reporting standards;
- Support SOX control documentation and adherence including journal entry review and account reconciliation controls;
- Support external audit requests, including preparation of workpapers, supporting schedules, and documentation of accounting conclusions;
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and strategic process enhancements across the Finance function;
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as directed by senior finance leadership.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting;
- 1–3 years of experience in an accounting function; public accounting experience preferred;
- CPA license and public accounting experiences preferred;
- Hands-on experience with a major ERP system;
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including general ledger processes and month-end close procedures;
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability; proactively follows tasks through to completion;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across teams and levels;
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
