Full job description

The Project Engineer, Customs is responsible for developing and modifying engineering designs and preparing detailed drawings for medical instrumentation per surgeon specifications. This individual works with the product managers, machinists, welders, and product development to ensure instrument design and manufacturing capabilities are possible and solve the issue.

  • Designs and details instruments using PTC Creo Parametric software.
  • Interacts with product managers, machine shop, quality personnel, sales reps/surgeons, and product development to complete required tasks.
  • Utilizes high-level CAD techniques such as surface modeling, body/Boolean operations, patterning, family tables, etc. to accurately capture complex geometry such as drill flutes and tap threads.
  • Works directly with 3D print protoype lab to ensure to ensure best practices for CAD file preparation and resulting 3D prints.
  • Communicates concepts to product managers and sales reps/surgeons.
  • Ability to accurately measure and design from instrument samples.
  • Assists model makers/machinists with making adjustments to designs for easier/quicker manufacturing.
  • Ensures full compliance with Globus quality system and other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies. Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

  • 3–7 years experience in mechanical design engineering; Medical device experience is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar training
  • PTC Creo Parametric sfotware or equivalent 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Fusion 360, etc.)
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and team player capable of working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Required to possess specific visons abilities, including: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and capacity to adjust focus
