Heavy Equipment Operator - LA

<h3>Job description</h3><p>Overview</p><p>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment and machinery to support the construction, maintenance, and operations of our facilities and projects.

This role requires a strong foundation in equipment operation, a keen eye for safety, and a commitment to meeting deadlines and project goals.</p><p>Duties</p><p>Excavations/trenching inside closed landfills for landfill gas collections and leachate systems is a plus.</p><p>Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed.</p><p>

• Ensures equipment is in good working order, at all times.</p><p>
• Must possess skill, coordination, and awareness to operate heavy equipment in a safe manner with precision and efficiency.</p><p>
• Able to slope or bench an excavation.</p><p>
• Able to read and understand cut and fill stakes in order to align and position equipment appropriately.</p><p>
• Willingness to operate heavy equipment for long periods with continuous attention to detail and safety.</p><p>
• Observe and follow all applicable safety requirements.</p><p>
• Maintain consistent communication among field crew members by use of hand signals or radio to align and position heavy equipment properly.</p><p>
• Confirm necessary precautions have been taken to ensure no conflicts exist with both above and below-ground utilities.</p><p>
• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent</p><p>Skills</p><p>A positive attitude and willingness to take direction.</p><p>
• Ability to communicate in English</p><p>
• Understanding proper safety procedures and recognizing hazards</p><p>
• Ability to understand Plans as they relate to trenching, excavation, and grading.</p><p>
• Knowledge of U.S.A. marks</p><p>
• Must be a team player and create a positive environment</p><p>
• Must be a self-starter and a go-getter</p><p>
• Ability to check grade and verify elevations using a laser, is a plus.</p><p>
• Ability to lead the day-to-day activities of a small crew, is a plus.</p><p>
• Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends.</p><p></p><p>License/Certification:</p><p></p><ul><li>Driver's License (Preferred)</li></ul><p></p><p>Ability to Commute:</p><p></p><ul><li>Oakland, CA (Required)</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Education/Training:</strong></p><p>
• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)</p><p>
• Five (5) years of hands-on/demonstrated experience as a heavy equipment operator</p><p>
• &nbsp;<em><strong>40-Hr HAZWOPER or current 8-Hr HAZWOPER Refresher Certification</strong></em></p><p>
• Construction industry experience, preferred</p><p>
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation</p><p>Job Types: Full-time, Contract</p><p>Pay: $35.00 - $37.00 per hour</p><p>
