We are seeking a customer-driven Senior Product Manager to own Starburst's identity and access management capabilities.
Your primary focus will be to deliver product functionality that empowers customers — and their AI agents — to manage and enforce data access policies across human identities, machine principals, and agentic workloads, through both native and partner solutions.
You will collaborate closely with other product managers, engineering, and go-to-market teams to define the product vision, prioritize features, and guide execution. Success in this role means aligning product strategy with business goals, championing the voice of the customer, and driving customer growth by ensuring the product meets security, compliance, and enterprise-grade access governance
requirements — including emerging requirements around AI agent entitlements and non-human principal management.
- Build and deliver on a roadmap that balances the needs of customers and internal teams with clear prioritization based on data driven customer insights.
- Collaborate with teams globally across multiple time zones and operate in an Agile development environment.
- Collect and summarize usage data/dashboards for decision making and OKR tracking.
- Define and own the product strategy for IAM, RBAC, and entitlements — covering both human identity and role-based access and machine/agent identity and access patterns.
- Partner with platform and security teams on the access audit trail and observability roadmap — contributing product requirements for visibility into who accessed what data, when, and from where across federated sources, to support enterprise compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to InfoSec readiness planning, translating enterprise compliance requirements into product input and helping ensure Starburst's access governance capabilities meet the bar required by regulated industries.
- Partner closely with the data products and semantic layer team to ensure access policies are consistently enforced and propagated across governed data products.
- 5+ years experience as a Product Manager or Technical Product Manager.
- Experience managing Lakehouse product offerings and their ecosystems (catalogs, permissions, metadata, and access governance frameworks).
- Deep understanding of identity and access management concepts — including RBAC, ABAC, OAuth, OIDC, OPA, and SCIM — and how those apply in distributed data environments, including emerging patterns around AI agent identity, machine-to-machine authentication, and non-human principal access.
- Experience working with or alongside InfoSec, compliance, or security teams to translate enterprise security requirements into product capabilities.
- Proven ability to operate in a highly technical product area where trade-off choices consider engine performance and span multiple product areas.
- Deep understanding of the technical landscape and markets preferred (well versed in databases, data warehousing, data lakes, and familiarity with many of the data infrastructure products in industry).
- Entrepreneurial and self motivated personality with a track record for delivering results in fast-moving environments.
