As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will join an experienced, close-knit team that advises across all aspects of TRM’s rapidly-growing global business, and was recently named a finalist for the prestigious Financial Times Innovative Lawyers (2025) https://lawyersnorthamerica.live.ft.com/home awards.

The team provides timely, ethically-sound, and commercially-savvy advice on matters including contract negotiations, product counseling, compliance with global laws and regulations (including privacy and AI-related issues), dispute avoidance/resolution, corporate governance, and overall risk management.

Success is measured by how effectively and efficiently the Legal team empowers others throughout TRM to make complex decisions in the best interests of the company.

- Provide legal, operational, and strategic advice to our cutting-edge Blockchain Intelligence teams, including with respect to data collection methods and practices.

- Advise and support our global Law Enforcement Relations team with respect to subpoenas, expert witness testimony, and other projects.

- Provide litigation and regulatory support across the global enterprise, including advising on evidentiary issues, product issues, AI, sales, privacy, and employment.

- Assist on other legal matters impacting the Company as necessary.

- At least 6-8 years’ prior experience working in a government agency, at a reputable law firm, or in-house. Tech or web3/blockchain industry experience is helpful but not required.

- Experience handling litigation and regulatory matters, including advising non-attorney clients on compliance with fast-moving global legal requirements, engaging with law enforcement and government actors around the world, and mitigating/resolving potential disputes.

- Experience with criminal and civil law matters, including advising non-attorney clients on compliance with applicable laws and on-the-ground operational matters.

- Effective communicator, able to own and manage cross-functional projects, willing to learn, and humble, with a sense of humor.

- Must be service-oriented and client-friendly in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment. A successful candidate will need to meet tight deadlines and properly manage client expectations while juggling multiple priorities.

- Must have executive presence to successfully negotiate with external partners, outside counsel, internal and external clients, etc.

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school, with active bar membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.

TRM’s culture is shaped by how we make decisions, how we execute, and how we treat each other.

- Impact-Oriented Trailblazer: We put customers first, driving for speed, focus, and adaptability.

- Master Craftsperson: We prioritize speed, high standards, and distributed ownership.

- Inspiring Colleague: We value humility, candor, humor, and a one-team (“front of the jersey”) mindset.

Joining TRM means being part of a mission-driven team comprised of industry leaders.

- Purpose: Have a real-world impact, from disrupting terrorist networks to protecting victims of crime to returning stolen funds.

- Growth: Professional advancement opportunities through clearly defined career pathways and biannual performance reviews.

- Ownership: Take pride in your work. Have a large breadth and scope of contributions and impact at a rapidly-growing global company in a burgeoning industry.

- Remote First: Our headquarters is online but we highly value in-person interactions, organizing regular meetups and offsites for team building.

- Async Communication: Clear communication is key in our decentralized setup. We use collaboration tools such as Slack, Notion, and Loom to promote transparency and efficiency.

- High Ownership: Small teams drive big goals at TRM with ownership, responsibility, and a direct impact. There’s no strict clocking in or out. Team members are trusted to balance personal schedules with team needs.

- TRM Speed: We move “surprisingly fast” while maintaining a high bar in service of our customers and mission. This can feel both intense and rewarding. Our unique approach emphasizes quick wins, rapid iterations, and constant feedback.

- Diversity: Diversity at TRM encompasses backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Every day is an opportunity to learn from a colleague, whether they’re a pioneering data scientist, a world-famous law enforcement expert, or an innovative marketing professional.

- Annual Company Offsite: Once a year, TRMers come together from around the world to attend a 1-week mandatory company offsite. This experience is designed to foster in-person relationships, creativity, and strategic alignment. Attendance is required of all TRMers.

At TRM, we know that supporting our team members can take many forms. Our goal is to enable you to care for yourself, your family, and your community with a diverse and curated benefits package for full-time employees.

- Generous paid time for vacation, holidays, and parental leave
