Revenue Recognition Accountant

Job Summary: The Revenue Recognition Accountant will work closely across multiple teams within the Company to address revenue accounting matters in the application of U.S. GAAP, and maintenance of revenue accounting policies. This role will own the end-to-end revenue accounting for Firstup and conduct research on complex revenue arrangements.

In addition, this role will work closely with our financial reporting and GL accounting teams in support of the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, and other stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis (i.e., acquisition Integration team to ensure successful implementation of accounting policies and procedures for newly acquired businesses and accurate go-live reporting.)

Firstup expects the base salary for this role to be between $70,000-$85,000. The starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 1-3 years of direct experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, and/or 3-5 years of progressive general accounting experience with a strong understanding of revenue principles.

• Proven experience with ASC 606 system implementations (e.g., NetSuite ARM module or similar), and/or Big 4 audit experience with a CPA license.

• Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Accounting).

• Excellent communication skills with ability to develop the "story" and form recommendations.

• Superb attention to detail balanced by ability to focus on the "big picture."

• Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets and Word / Google Docs related skills.

• Experience and interest to build out systems and processes in a rapidly growing business.
• Prepare and analyze revenue accounting entries for month-end close, ensuring deferred revenue waterfalls are accurately maintained.

• Own the ASC 606 revenue recognition in NetSuite (ARM module) monthly.

• Perform detailed reviews/analysis of Master Agreements and Contracts to ensure that revenue is properly recorded, and documentation is in compliance with policy.

• Ensure the accurate application of GAAP to complex revenue transactions.

• Review Order Perfection for data accuracy and revenue recognition impact in Salesforce.

• Support the coordination of annual audit activities of external auditors, as needed.

• Participate in the continuous improvement of revenue recognition processes and systems.
