Description
A Mechanical Assembler's job is to assemble parts and subassemblies into finished products using tools and equipment: Mechanical assemblers will be working in a warehouse/shop floor and will be assembling complete products. They will also be using automated equipment, forklift, or small cranes to move parts.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies
- Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions
- Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists
- Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts
- Conducts quality control checks
- Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies
- Verifies specifications by measuring complete components
- Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications, notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources
- Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintains inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies
- Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check
- Must be able to read assembly blueprints in English format
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and occasional weekends as required
- Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited standardization
- Working knowledge of shop safety practices
- Understanding of quality assurance concepts, typically acquired through in-house training
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Adaptability and willingness to be cross trained
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Comfortable working in a factory environment with temperature variations
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and repetitive movements for up to 8 hours per day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
