Full job description

Job Summary The Department Chair provides leadership and administrative oversight for the academic program, including faculty supervision, curriculum development, program assessment, resource management, and accreditation compliance.

The Chair supports teaching and learning excellence, ensures achievement of program outcomes, and collaborates with college and community partners to advance program goals and workforce development initiatives.

Education, Experience and Certifications Master's Degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline (A and P, BIO, CHEM, PSY, ENG, PHI, SOC) and previous teaching experience at the college level required.

Management skills preferred. Essential Functions Responsible for supervision, recruitment, workload assignment, and evaluation of faculty. Prepares, develops, and manages departmental budgets.

Develops, implements, evaluates, and schedules curriculum. Plans, implements, and assesses program outcomes. Responsible for student and program assessment.

Meets regularly with faculty and assigns faculty workloads. Participates in committee meetings. Visits classes.

Initiates new clinical affiliations and ensures all affiliation contracts remain current and contractual requirements are met, as applicable.

Anticipates program resource needs and oversees acquisition and maintenance of resources necessary to support the program. Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures that guide and support the program.

Directs learning outcomes assessment across college curricula. Prepares College, accreditation, and regulatory agency reports. Ensures ongoing evaluation of and compliance with accreditation requirements and standards.

Attends regional and national meetings. Collaborates with Atrium Health Workforce Development and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' Hawthorne Academy partners.

Provides instruction. Physical Requirements Requires knowledge regarding teaching discipline and ability to verbalize that knowledge in a presentation in a classroom.
