Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) - Urology Clinic

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Licensed Practical Nurses must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and

- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

- LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing

As a Licensed Practical Nurse , you'll play a vital role in the care team - supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.

- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

- Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.

- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.

- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.

- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, staff and physicians. - Excellent organization, prioritization and problem solving skills. - Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.

- Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. - Must be able to: - lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist. - lift up to 20 lbs over the head. - carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. - Must be able to: - push/pull with 30 lbs of force. - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present. - Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.

Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. - Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. - Operates all equipment essential to perform the job.
