Education: Bachelor's degree or related field
Experience: 2+ years
the opportunity to present their research during lab meetings and scientific conferences and to write, submit, and publish scientific papers.
Responsibilities Culture and maintain a collection of cancer cell lines. Prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays. Perform drug efficacy studies in mice.
Prepare tissue sections for histology work. Analyze data from assays using various software packages. Work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience).
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a related scientific field preferred. Prior experience with small animal handling is required. Experience working with cancer mouse models is preferred.
Experience with tissue culture and standard molecular biological techniques (DNA and RNA extraction),protein isolation and analysis (gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, etc.), and microbiology techniques preferred.
The technician must show initiative, willingness to take up new skills and responsibilities, and be a team player. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential to success in this position,as are good communication, responsiveness to feedback, and organizational skills.
Must be flexible and willing to work some evenings and weekends as needed to complete time-sensitive experiments. The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
