LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions.

If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.

Role Purpose

You will lead LA28's health-and-safety technical and governance function, establishing the programs, systems, and standards that integrate Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, and Safety Training and Communication into a single coordinated discipline. Reporting to the VP, Health & Safety, you build the processes and tools that deliver these programs, mentor a team of Managers who operate them day to day, and serve as the technical authority that departments across the organization rely on to remain safe and compliant as the Games approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the H&S technical and governance function, spanning Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, and Safety Training and Communication.
  • Establish and manage the processes, systems, tools, and large projects that deliver H&S programs successfully.
  • Manage and mentor a team of direct-report Managers, guiding their work and professional development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical H&S programs, liaising with internal customers and peer leaders across departments.
  • Ensure programs meet regulatory requirements, including Cal-OSHA, and reflect current industry practice.
  • Solve complex safety problems with an agile, experience-based approach as programs scale toward Games-time.
  • Required Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety program management, regulatory requirements (Cal-OSHA specifically), and industry practices.
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills across multiple technical safety disciplines.
  • Ability to solve complex functional problems using an agile, experience-based approach.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience; OR Master's degree and at least 5 years of experience; OR 9+ years of specialized work experience.
  • Valued Experience

  • Experience in a large-scale event or corporate environment.
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety policies from the ground up.
  • Professional safety certification (for example, Certified Safety Professional — CSP), preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office, with travel to venue sites across the Los Angeles region as needed.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • During both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, work location may vary across LA28 venues.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
