Full job description

- Set the strategic direction for the Field Safety Operations sub-function, leading all venue and cluster (Competition and non-Competition) H&S teams.

- Build and manage the health and safety workforce plan, determining when cluster and venue roles are needed and allocating dedicated versus clustered resources for Games-time.

- Run the lifetime workforce-plan review process through 2026 and 2027, refining it as new information becomes available.

- Participate in venue design reviews and guide early development of H&S programs and training content.

- Contribute safety leadership to Event Operations planning, Test Events, and Readiness exercises.

- Represent Field Safety Operations to executives and partners, resolving complex issues with clear, strategic work plans

- Specialized expertise in field safety operations and large-scale event safety.

- Ability to resolve a diverse range of problems by creating logical, strategic work plans.

- Strong influencing skills, with the ability to present to executives and handle conflict professionally.

- Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience; OR Master's degree and at least 6 years of experience; OR 10+ years of specialized work experience.

- Experience managing safety for major public events (for example, an Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, or the Super Bowl).

- Proven ability to lead a large, multi-layered team and interact with executive leaders.

- Professional safety certification (for example, Certified Safety Professional - CSP), preferred.

- The autonomy to design how field safety operations are structured across venues and clusters.

- A leadership seat that shapes decisions with executives and venue partners.

- A mission-driven team where your judgment protects athletes, workforce, and fans.

Every safety decision on every LA28 venue ultimately traces back to the strategy and structure you establish. Your leadership ensures the Games are delivered safely, at scale, across dozens of simultaneous competition and non-competition sites.

- Available to work onsite at LA28 venues and our Downtown Los Angeles-based office, with regular travel to venue sites across the Los Angeles region.

- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.

- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.

- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.

- During both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, work location may vary across LA28 venues.

- Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $182,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
