Full job description

Job Description Consultant II / Senior Consultant I is responsible for investigating moderately complex and occasionally complex, represented and unrepresented claims. The individual also may handle moderate and occasionally complex CPL (comprehensive personal liability) claims. The individual takes recorded statements, resolves loss of use claims, makes payments to appropriate parties, and negotiates and settles property damage to third parties.

This desk handles multiple types of homeowners, condos, boat, and ATV policies as well as all perils related to third party liability. Key Responsibilities Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices. Reviews estimates in preparation for claims settlement evaluation.

Coordinate the appraisal process for highly complex, disputed claims, ensuring adherence to policy provisions. Determines and explains minimum coverage limits in moderately complex and occasionally complex claims involving single or multiple claimants, also determines claim value. Sets initial reserve, updates reserve, documents rationale and claim summary notes.

Act as the primary point of contact for policyholder attorneys, leading direct negotiations to resolve disputes efficiently. Draft and respond to attorney correspondence, requests for information, and demands to maintain compliance and mitigate legal exposure. Researches and responds to moderately complex and occasionally complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues.

Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes, documenting a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision-making process. Analyzes contracts such as lease agreements and condominium documents.

Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of claims experience. Proficient communication skills, especially over the phone, to establish rapport and assess claims accurately. Ability to work independently and remotely, while managing time efficiently.

Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, and liability determination. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate and negotiate injury claims successfully. Knowledge of innovative tools and platforms for effective claims evaluation.

The ability to handle condo claims and property liability. Prior large loss claim and litigation handling. Notes The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities.

Remote Home-Based Work: This position is a permanent remote home-based role. Your home office does not need to be near an Allstate office, but it does need to be in the United States. This position is not available for California, Alaska, Hawaii, or Washington residents.

When you work from home full time, you'll need: A home office - a dedicated workspace in your residence that is private and free from distractions. A minimum internet bandwidth of 50 MB down/5 MB up. Appropriate work surface and seating.

What will Allstate provide? A technology bundle that includes all equipment needed to perform your work from home (laptop, monitors, headset, keyboard, mouse). Connectivity reimbursement of $80 per month to offset some of the cost of internet.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: As a condition of employment, your office/area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or an appraiser license which includes passing an additional background check with the Department of Labor. If applicable, you will be required to secure license(s) within 60 days of hire. If required, the Hiring Manager will work with you along with the Centralized Licensing team to ensure that you are properly licensed.

Requirement: As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team.

Sign-on Bonus: You may be eligible for a $1000 Licensing Sign on Bonus if you have the applicable active licenses needed for this role. This could include Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or applicable Appraiser License.
