Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions that align with business objectives. This role involves driving technical architecture, overseeing coding standards, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and maintainable code. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to analyze requirements, manage risks, and deliver innovative products while supporting continuous integration and deployment processes.

About the team:

The Pricing team - combines algorithmic intelligence with high-scale distributed systems to power Walmart's real-time pricing platform across all omni-channel touchpoints. The team builds and maintains low-latency, fault-tolerant services that compute, serve, and enforce accurate prices for millions of items - supporting Walmart's mission of delivering Everyday Low Prices to customers in-store, online, and on mobile.

Engineers on this team design reusable, cloud-native pricing primitives on WCNP, drive price consistency across US and international markets, and partner closely with Merchandising, Market Place, Finance, and Data Science teams to translate competitive pricing strategies into production-grade technology. Their work underpins Walmart's pricing integrity, operational efficiency, and customer trust.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze and classify requirements, including functional and non-functional, to align solutions with business objectives.
  • Design scalable, modular software architectures incorporating disaster recovery and cloud-native principles.
  • Develop detailed designs, including mock screens and pseudocode, to guide implementation and clarify requirements.
  • Lead coding efforts, ensuring adherence to standards, security, and maintainability across platforms and frameworks.
  • Drive test strategy development, tool selection, and execution to ensure comprehensive coverage and defect resolution.
  • Monitor program metrics, manage CI/CD pipelines, and support continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to enhance software quality and performance.

What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in software architecture, distributed systems, and scalable design patterns.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as JavaScript and Python, with strong adherence to coding standards and security practices.
  • Expertise in requirements analysis, including functional and non-functional requirements, risk assessment, and user story creation.
  • Strong skills in solution design, cloud-native architecture, and platform development.
  • Proven ability to lead testing strategies, defect management, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation scripting, and telemetry implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement in software engineering processes.

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-11297: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
