The CNN Ad Experience team sits at the intersection of CNN’s user experience and its primary financial engine. We believe the future of CNN is in a premium ad experience powered by first-party data and best-in-class UX. To achieve this, we’re unifying ad UX across platforms, innovating on new ad formats, and building smarter tooling to ensure our ads are relevant, timely, and respectful.

The next Product Designer II, Ad Experience is a strong critical thinker who intuitively understands the balance of business and user needs. They love acting as the “tip of the spear” for new projects, and want to continue developing their design thinking as the bridge to other teams and disciplines. They’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, researchers, and data scientists to build the future of CNN’s digital products.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Create user flows, mockups, and interactive prototypes to effectively conceptualize product features.
  • Help drive user research sessions and usability tests to better understand our consumers.
  • Create, contribute, and maintain components for our design system.
  • Champion our design principles, design systems and product roadmap, and serve our editorial teams’ needs.
  • Play a role in shaping the future of CNN's monetization by collaborating with stakeholders and team members to brainstorm, envision, and validate new ad products and footprints.
Qualifications & Experience...
  • 2+ years as a product designer, ideally in ad tech, marketing tech, or growth design.
  • Strong Figma experience, including with variables, components, styles, and shared libraries.
  • A good track record of product thinking, helping teams understand and prioritize the problems they’re solving as part of the design effort.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing design system components to create scalable, delightful user experiences.
  • Experience working on consumer-facing products within large-scale organizations. Bonus points for experience in news/media.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage design tasks and a strong record of working cross-functionally with other disciplines.
  • Developing strengths in best practices of user experience design, including usability principles, user research methodology, testing techniques (A/B, Multi-Variant), design theory, and interaction design.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
