Full job description

Job Description At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt.

We're turning today's impossible into tomorrow's standard -from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role The Senior Analysis Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and executing one-dimensional models of electrical components, subsystems, and full vehicle architectures for 12V/48V electrical systems.

This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle-level electrical systems and proficiency in simulation tools such as Synopsys Saber. The senior analysis engineer is also required to have experience is co-simulation and software in the loop (SiL) modeling using tools like Matlab, Simulink and Simscape.

The analysis engineer needs to closely work with suppliers to get high fidelity 12V component models (e.g battery, IBS, aggregator, CCU etc).

The analysis engineer will create systems model, perform simulation, interpret and present simulation results to stakeholders at critical program milestones.

Analysis engineer will be required to interact cross functionally with a wide variety of engineering teams (Electrical Architects, Co-simulation teams, Validation, Calibration and Design Release Engineers) to deliver standard work, perform root cause analysis, compare analytical results to tests, identify analytical gaps and lead capability projects to close these gaps.

What You'll Do Lead effort to develop new analysis capabilities for 12V/48V electrical systems including, but not limited to, developing 12V battery model, 12V distribution model, aggregator model and other electrical components on the vehicle Develop physics-based models for co-sim and software in the loop effort Develop vehicle electrical and battery electro-thermal models to support virtual controls for Co-Sim and calibration initiatives Perform standard analysis to deliver design solutions which are robust and reliable utilizing optimization and statistical methods when appropriate Collaborate with global analysis engineers to ensure on time delivery of high-quality results Lead and conduct peer reviews of analysis results prior to delivery to the product team Work collaboratively with Electrical Architects, SiL teams and component hardware design teams to ensure system requirements are met, design concepts are evaluated, and development and validation plans are successful Collaborate with other CAE teams to capture and integrate higher fidelity models into electrical system models Support critical vehicle program gates with technical reviews (PPDRs, VVAs, Peer Reviews) Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Controls engineering 5+ yrs of engineering experience in design, analysis or testing of 12V/48V electrical system or components Proficient in Synopsys Saber simulator, MAST modeling language, and electrical data analysis tools including MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape Skilled in developing models for Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) simulations Experience with FMUs (Functional Mockup Unit) and co-simulation Hands-on experience with Charge Balance, Fail-Operational, Bus Integrity, Short Circuit and other 12V/48V Component Sizing simulations Strong foundation in engineering principles related to electric circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetics, electric drive systems, control systems, and digital signal processing Experienced in analytical modeling of electric generators, batteries, heating and cooling systems, lighting systems, and electronic controllers Experience in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) methods Excellent debugging and troubleshooting capabilities What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Physics Experience with development and usage of CAE/CAD tools Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery cell modeling and simulation Modeling (or other cell chemistries: Lead Acid, etc.).

DFSS Black Belt or higher certification Experience in designing and implementing GUI (Graphical User Interface) as well as core software for technical applications with schematic interfaces GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc).

About GM Our vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.
